Two people paddle a cardboard boat in a swimming pool, wearing life vests.

Kamiak High School’s Fifth Annual Float Your Boat Regatta was the best yet, with majority of the boats making it to the finish line! The Float Your Boat Regatta is a class assignment for students in engineering class. They were tasked by their teacher to form teams of three, design and build a boat made only of cardboard and duct tape and weigh no more than 15 pounds. The goal? To paddle the full length of the Kamiak pool without sinking, and in the least amount of time. The race was on! Hull Wizard, coming in at 2 pounds over the wight limit, came in first, while The Box, Pillar of Autumn, Ship Never Happens, and Frat Freight, made a valiant effort. Teams did make it to the finish line while a couple of boats absorbed too much water and capsized. Each team deserves a huge shout-out for their hard work!
