A MESSAGE FROM MR. CORAM

Hello families!

Thank you to all of the families who attended Curriculum Night this week. It was wonderful to see so many parents and guardians in our building connecting with teachers, learning about classroom expectations, and gaining a better understanding of the exciting learning opportunities ahead for students this year.

I also want to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who has contributed items to our Hawk Pride Hub. Your generosity has made a tremendous difference. Donations ranging from trading cards to small trinkets have been a huge hit with our students. The excitement students show when they visit the Hawk Pride Hub is a direct result of the support from our Harbour Pointe community.

Beyond the prizes themselves, the Hawk Pride Hub is helping us strengthen one of our most important goals: building positive relationships with students. It provides additional opportunities for staff members to recognize students for demonstrating our Hawk Core Four values of being Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and Inclusive. These recognition moments create meaningful connections, celebrate positive choices, and contribute to a school culture where students feel seen, valued, and encouraged.

Thank you for partnering with us and supporting the work we do each day to make Harbour Pointe a welcoming and engaging place for every student.
Steve Coram, Principal

HPMS FALL FUNDRAISER

🎉 We're Over 65% of the Way to Our Goal!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported our fundraiser so far! The generosity of our Harbour Pointe community has been incredible, and because of your efforts, we have now raised $32,599 toward our $50,000 goal!

That's more than 65% of the way there, but we still need your help to cross the finish line. Our fundraiser runs through October 13, and every share, donation, and conversation helps us get one step closer to our goal.

💙💛 Why Your Support Matters
Every dollar raised directly benefits our students by supporting music programs, sports teams, clubs, student activities, enrichment opportunities, and the experiences that make Harbour Pointe such a special place to learn and grow.

📣 The Easiest Way to Help? Share!
Many donations come from extended family members, friends, coworkers, and neighbors who simply didn't know we were fundraising. Take a minute to send a text, email, or post on social media and help spread the word. Just one share can lead to multiple donations!
Imagine the impact if every Hawk family shared our fundraiser with just a few people. Together, we can reach and even exceed our goal!

🏆 Don't Forget the Incentives!
  • 👔 Top Student Fundraiser: Be Principal for the Day!
  • 🍩 Top Fundraising Class: Win a delicious Donut Party!

🚀 Let's Finish Strong, Hawks!
We're entering the final stretch and are less than $17,500 away from our goal. Thank you for everything you've done so far. Let's keep sharing, keep supporting, and show what our Hawk community can accomplish when we work together!

Every share matters. Every donation matters. Every Hawk matters. 💙💛🐦

Bright Start offers new school clothing and shoes for students who qualify based on financial need. Clothing may be provided through an in-person shopping experience or a prepared clothing bag. If you are interested in this resource for your student, please complete the SSA Referral Form below, and we will follow up with more information.

Attendance

Attendance is an important factor in your child’s success in their education journey! That said, we are aware that sometimes it is unavoidable to miss school. While there are many reasons students may be absent, there is only ONE thing you need to do when it happens:

Please be sure to contact the attendance office by phone or email, 24hrs a day to report your student’s absence. Include your child’s name, grade, and reason for missing school. 425.366.5105, or HPAttendance@mukilteo.wednet.edu

If you know in advance that your student will be absent for one day or more, please complete the prearranged absence form at this LINK, or find it in another language on the district website. Be sure to choose the middle school option from the list of choices.

Thank you for helping us keep our attendance records accurate!

Absences

If your student is absent, it is important to excuse the absence by doing one of the following:

  1. A written note from the parent/guardian for an excused absence must be received within two school days following a return to school. Administrators may request doctor’s verification for excessive absences.
  2. A phone call from the parent or guardian if a student will be absent. Email HPAttendance@mukilteo.wednet.edu or call the 24-hour attendance line at 425-366-5105. When returning from an absence, a student should always get an “Admit to Class” pass from Student Services. Give this pass to your teacher. If the parent phoned in earlier, or if the student brings a signed excuse, the absence is excused. To avoid having the absence recorded as unexcused; students have one additional day after returning to school to bring a signed note from a parent or guardian.

Pre-Arranged Absences

We would like to remind you that for vacation/travel absences, a Pre-Arranged Absence Form must be filled out and returned to Student Services at least one week prior to travel. If you know that your student will be absent, please ask them to get a form from the Student Services office. Your student will need to bring the form to each of their classes for teacher signatures, then collect a parent's signature before returning it to Student Services for administrator consideration.

Early Pick-Up Procedure

Regular attendance is crucial for students' academic success. We encourage families not to schedule appointments during school hours, although we understand that it may be unavoidable at times. If you need to pick up your student early from school, we require some time to retrieve them from their class. Kindly notify us at least ONE DAY PRIOR by calling (425) 366-5105, or emailing HPAttendance@mukilteo.wednet.edu with:
  • Your student's name
  • Date & time of student's pick up
  • Reason for leaving school early
Provided with sufficient advance notice for pick-up, we will have your student waiting for you at Student Services at the specified time, saving you from waiting.

(More information can be found in our handbook online.)

Click on a date and then click the event. You have the option to add it to your device's calendar so you'll remember important events even when you're not checking ParentSquare.

From the desktop version of ParentSquare, click on the calendar tab on the left of your screen. You have the option to subscribe to the calendar, download the events, (and import to a personal calendar), or print the calendar by month.

Scent Awareness

Scented products can trigger serious health reactions in people with asthma, bronchitis, migraines, allergies or chemical sensitivities. Please remind your students to maintain a healthy environment for everyone by not spraying scented products while at school.
A sign reads 'Notice Fragrance Free Zone' with a red circle and slash through a perfume bottle.

MSD Online Payment Portal

If your student is participating in clubs, sports, Band, Choir, or Orchestra, they must purchase a $15.00 ASB membership. If you purchased your PE clothes online, please see our Bookkeeper, located in the Great Hall. Yearbooks will be distributed at then end of the school year.

DO YOUR STUDENTS OWE FEES AND FINES?
Please check if your students have fees and fines. There might be charges for lost/damaged books, club fees, or athletic uniforms that were not returned. Any fines and fees carryover from year to year. It’s best to clear these up now. Please click HERE or scan the QR code to check your student’s account.

Activity Bus Info

  •  Students must be a regular bus rider (live within the school bus boundaries)
  • There is one Activity Bus.
  • Students need to know their address.
  • There are limited stops on the route, so it may not be your child's regular stop but somewhat close in proximity, although they may have to walk a bit more to their home.
  • Students may ask the bus drivers to find out which bus they should take and what stop they should get off.
  • This is NOT your student's regular bus route. Depending on when your student's stop is, they could arrive home after 5:00PM.
  • The Activity Bus will leave at 4:10PM from the front of the school.

Deliveries for Students

Items to be delivered to a student during the school day may be placed on the appropriate grade-level shelf located inside the Main Entrance for student pick-up at passing or lunchtime. Please make sure food items arrive in time for a student’s lunch; we cannot guarantee they will have time to eat it otherwise.

Staff is not responsible for deliveries or messages unless there is an emergency. Flowers, balloons, and special food treats are not permitted at school due to disruption of learning.

Snacks

Thanks to the generosity of the PTO, we are able to maintain a stock of snacks for students who need extra nourishment during day. As the school year has gotten started, we have seen more and more students getting snacks. We’re especially seeing our sixth graders getting snacks in the afternoon, probably because their lunch time is so early in the day. If families are able, we encourage them to pack extra snacks for their students so that we can maintain the supply for students in need.

If your family needs assistance with food, clothing, or other basic needs, please reach out to Raylin Lucey, the Student Support Advocate at Harbour Pointe Middle School. You can contact him through the SSA Referral Form or by emailing luceyrj@mukilteo.wednet.edu. He is here to connect you with local resources that may be able to provide support.
